About the Farm
Murphy Livestock Farm is set in Franklin Township in North Hunterdon County, in New Jersey. The Township is relatively under-developed relative to the majority of Hunterdon County and New Jersey. There are many preserved farms in the township. The majority of the open land is tilled. There are relatively few livestock farms in the area with most of the animals on farms being horses. There is one other breeder of registered cattle in our township.
Our primary agricultural focus is the production of high quality registered Red Angus cattle that achieve a rewarding balance between beef production and reproductive and low maintenance traits.
PJ grew up on a farm in Ireland which had a dairy and "dairy beef" operation along with a registered Texel Sheep operation. Horses were part of the mix and foals were produced on the farm. After the retirement of PJ's family from dairy, they are focused on produced the highest quality Angus bulls for the prospering dairy business in Ireland. The family typically produce over 40 registered Angus bulls each year and over 70 registered rams.
PJ Started PJM Goats in about 2008 and had a very successful breeding program where he had produced 8 of the top recorded ADG figures in the breed from University Tests at one time. Much was learned and the success was received with gratitude after the dedication to developing good stock in that breed.
Anna Murphy and Aiden Murphy are involved everyday in the functioning of the farm and in the hands management of the livestock.
